User Stories resonates with the anxiety expressed by David Bowie when he said, “I’m just a collection of other people’s voices” whilst simultaneously addressing the conditions of modern living. Not the conditions we live in, but those we’re forced to accept in order to live in 21st-century, post-Brexit, pandemic Britain. Balanced on knife-edge dilemmas, these poems speak from the ancient past to the present, recasting familiar conflicts into mythic new shapes.
